Mentoring

I’ve worked in education for twenty five years

I began as a primary teacher, became a deputy head and student mentor. I then moved into Teacher Education almost fifteen years ago, teaching, lecturing and mentoring student primary teachers.

As I stepped into the field of yoga teaching (and the broader landscape of holistic practitioners) in 2017, I was immediately taken aback that there is little to no tradition - in the UK at any rate - of being mentored in your practice. Not as a newly qualified yoga teacher, and not beyond as you step into new specialisms. And I deeply believe it is a missing piece. In 2021 I began mentoring yoga teachers (and holistic practitioners wanting to develop their capacity and confidence to teach and train others).

I am currently open for new bookings. Please contact me if you would like to book in time in the autumn. Stand alone sessions are £65.

You can work with me on a monthly basis for £111, this includes weekly voice note support in my working hours.

Why work with a mentor?

Teaching is an ongoing art and craft. Whilst I celebrate the wonders of many 200 hour teacher trainings - there is a LOT to learn if you come to yoga teaching without pre-existing teaching experience. And the sad thing is, that there are hundreds of people out there who took the training but found getting in front of students beyond their reach. It is no easy feat to stand in front of a group of people and teach them.I have also mentored wellness practitioners beyond yoga (e.g aromatherapists, acpuncturists, reiki practitioners) seeking to weave skilful teaching and courses into their work.

If you’re a trainee yoga teacher, a yoga teacher who feels too nervous to hold classes, wracking your brain to keep sessions fresh and imaginative, an experienced yoga teacher running into challenging aspects that you never dreamt of -

I’m here for all of that and all things inbetween.

It might be that you are re-inventing your practice or offerings, or trying something completely new. Perhaps yoga teaching isn’t how you expected it would be…unravelling the things that make us (and our nervous systems) thrive is vital for us to create a working life that feels rich and nourishing.

I firmly believe that it is our responsibility as teachers to evaluate and reflect on our practice honestly - and we can only go so far doing that ourselves. I have my own regular supervision and hold this as ethically crucial. People enter the world of yoga and wellness for many reasons. And what they bring into our sessions will always require us to be responsive and to interrogate our teaching and guidance. As teachers and guides awe are always becoming and never the finished product.
